Gambling card games impatient game

.

Hey, I've played poker on and off never really accomplishing as much as I wanted. After coming back from a 2 month vacation trip I've tried starting again though I have to play lower stakes because I withdrew from my BR but I just can't muster up the patience to play hands.

Every time I lose a medium-big size pot I just get pissed and don't want to play anymore. I get the same feeling when I just can't understand some hand. I'd want to win every hand but obviously can't Really would like to fix this so I can play poker and play for meaningful stakes but this is stopping me.

Any help? I suggest playing stakes so low you don't care about them for a while. Practice your patience there. Force yourself to play a reasonable length session and try to play as patiently as possible. If you end up getting impatient, it won't hurt you that much. If you run good, you still won't satisfy your craving for action because the pots will be small. Do this until you care about the lower stakes somewhat.

It's just a matter of practice and the lower the stakes you play, the more practice with patience you will develop. Patience, as with a lot of things, is all about habit. Once you get into the habit of being patient, it start to become automatic. Another thing I find that helps my emotional control is trying to stay positive.

When i'm running card dead, I thank the dealer for giving me crappy cards because 'bad cards save money. If the dealer makes a mistake and accidentally flips my card up showing an ace to the table, I tell myself that I would have suffered a bad beat and the dealer just saved me money. When I have to fold a big hand to a scary board, I tell myself that it is the correct play and how i'm thankful I have the strength to make the correct play.

If I get bluffed out of a pot and villain shows the bluff, i'm thankful for the information and that I will get him next time. I also consider 'bluffs' just as valid as the nuts. WHen i'm not in a hand directly, I still try to stay 'involved' by guessing what the players have, what they should or shouldn't do, and who I think will win the hand.

I turn it into my own private game I also make it a point to take a min break every minutes or so. Also try reading Zen and the Art of Poker. It's not a bad book and does a good job on the subject of patience. Originally Posted by dgiharris. If you just play for money, put a picture of yourself holding a wad of cash, or just a picture of a huge pile of money. BB code is On. Smilies are On. Forum Rules. All times are GMT The time now is AM.
